Top Five Strikers Who Could Help Complete Chelsea Attacking Jigsaw

Walcott ChelseaOptions that could help improve Stamford Bridge attack.

Check in to Everton vs Chelsea

Chelsea have been linked with a myriad of striking targets as the Blues look to beef up an attack that has relied too heavily on Spaniard Fernando Torres.

The West London side have an abundance of creativity in their midfield with the likes of Juan Mata, Oscar, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses creating chances aplenty. Now the Stamford Bridge side need a proven finisher to either support Torres or act as a more effective replacement for the former Liverpool man.

Here are five options owner Roman Abramovich should be ready to open his chequebook to buy.

Radamel Falcao (Atletico Madrid)

The Expensive Option

The expensive option and apparently, as reported earlier today, not one that would be likely to join next month. The outrageously gifted forward can't stop scoring and could well be the ideal man to spearhead the Chelsea attack and though clearly he would cost a huge sum that's apparently a sum that Russia billionaire Roman Abramovich is more than willing to fork out for.

Would cost Chelsea upwards of £50m but with 20 goals in 16 matches, including three against Chelsea in the Super Cup Final, that is a price that is well worth paying for the 26 year old Colombian international.

Already shown that he can score goals in a top league, having also netted freely with FC Porto, and the form he has hit in Spain could well be translated into Premier League success.

Andre Schurrle (Bayer Leverkusen)

The Young Option

The young option and again apparently an option that may have to be considered in the summer after the German forward's dad stated his son was likely to remain at Bayer Leverkusen until at least next summer.

Perhaps waiting for a new striker is not such an issue given that the Blues are now out of the Champions League and some way off the Premier League title pace. Perhaps the West London side would do well to look to push on with the current campaign and then consider long term options when the season comes to a close.

David Villa (Barcelona)

The Short-Term Option

A slightly short term option given that the Spanish international is now 31 years of age. The good news for Chelsea is that the Barcelona man may well be available having become surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp. The fact that Villa formed a very successful partnership with Fernando Torres at international level some years back could also be a factor that excites the West London club.

Villa may well be keen to re-ignite a career that has stagnated at Barcelona and a move to the Premier League may well tempt the former Valencia to step up out of his La Liga comfort zone.

Despite finding himself behind the likes of Pedro, Alexis Sanchez and at times Cristian Tello, Villa has netted a very solid 40 goals in 91 appearances for the Catalan giants.

Demba Ba (Newcastle United)

The Realistic January Option

The realistic January option who can be picked up 'on the cheap' just by meeting the player's £7.5m release clause. Proven Premier League marksman and a player who would surely jump at the chance of a move to a side who can offer him the chance of competing for major honours.

The Newcastle United forward has netted freely this term despite the Magpies struggling for form and the powerful forward may be a good fit to stick up top, though he may not work well alongside Fernando Torres he could well be a more reliable goal-scoring option.

Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

The Experimental Option

The slightly experimental option but perhaps a January bid for the Arsenal attacker could be an ideal long term solution to the problem. The England man is out of contract in six months time and has stated his desire to move from a wide attacking role to a central striking spot. Arsene Wenger has relented in recent weeks and may have been impressed by the 23 year old's ability to fill the spot but as yet no contract has been signed.

The Arsenal man may well be swayed by the kind of wage offer that the Gunners can't compete with and as such the 23 year could be a very useful option to consider.

Walcott has netted 11 goals in all competitions and has greatly improved as a finisher and could be ready to move into an orthodox forward role.
