Chelsea to Complete £26.5m Trio Of January Signings

Stamford Bridge side line up spending spree the moment the transfer window opens next month.

Demba Ba was last night set to become the first of three Chelsea transfer window signings.

The Newcastle striker was locked in talks over a £7.5million switch to Stamford Bridge.

And Rafa Benitez's spending won't stop there, with a £10m move being lined up for Metalist Kharkiv's midfielder Taison followed by Corinthians' Paulinho.

Chelsea are prepared to activate the buy-out clause in Ba's contract to make him their first signing of the January window.

The apparent push to bring in Demba Ba is, according to this source, something of a stop-gap measure with Atletico Madrid goal machine Radamel Falcao being Chelsea's prime summer target.

The Blues are looking to the Newcastle United forward to add a further goal-scoring option even though Spaniard Fernando Torres has started to show glimpses of the form that led to Chelsea forking out £50m for his services.

Ba is a proven Premier League goal-scorer and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will be more than willing to pay the £7.5m fee needed to trigger the Senegal international's release clause.



Taison is into his third season at Ukraine side Metalist Kharkiv and has been a massive success, scoring and assisting regularly and would certainly be interested in a move to the Premier League side.

The adaptable attacker can play in an advanced central midfield role as well as on the flanks and was considered a very exciting talent whilst at Internacional prior to his move to Ukraine.

Chelsea will have to hope an application for a work permit for the 24 year old will succeed, a move that could be somewhat complicated by the fact Taison hasn't been capped at senior level by Brazil.

The Premier League side have been linked with interest in box to box midfielder £9m rated Brazilian international Paulinho for some months now and came face to face with the Corinthians man when Chelsea lose the FIFA Club World Cup Final against the Sao Paulo based side.
