Demba Ba will be paid a £2million loyalty bonus by Newcastle United as he prepares to complete a dream move to Chelsea.

Newcastle have accepted Ba's departure and are confident his replacement will be at St James' Park to watch the team play Everton on Wednesday.

There has been strong speculation that Demba Ba would leave St James' Park next month and it appears that Chelsea are set to win the race to land the Senegal international.

The in-form forward netted twice against Arsenal during the Magpies 7-3 defeat in North London and that may well prove to be the 27 year old's last match for Newcastle United as this source believes a deal will be struck on January 1st.

Chelsea are looking to beef up their attacking options and may even more reason to do so as England man Daniel Sturridge is set to join Liverpool early next month having completed a medical with the Merseyside club ahead of a proposed move to Anfield.

Interest in Demba Ba will have increased after Senegal failed to qualify for the African Nations Cup making the former Hoffenheim and West Ham man a more attractive proposition in the January transfer window.

Ba is a proven Premier League goal-scorer having netted seven goals in 12 appearances at Upton Park before West Ham were relegated and 16 goals in his first season on the North-East.

His 13 goals thus far this season make him the Premier League's second highest scorer behind Robin Van Persie and level with Michu and Luis Suarez.
