The 7th annual Dubai International Sports Conference kicks off later today with the line-up of those in attendance more impressive than ever before.
With high-profile names from football’s international and local scene, there is sure to be a great deal of insight provided by men who have achieved excellence within their specified areas. But there is sure to be a heavy focus on two attendees in particular as the world’s press descends on Dubai.
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, who will take the stand alongside Argentine legend and former Al Wasl coach Diego Maradona on Friday evening, is expected to receive a number of questions regarding his future at the Bernabeu.
The Portuguese manager is experiencing the most turbulent spell of his illustrious career, with various insiders claiming he will leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season, despite signing a new four-year contract in May.
Whether the former Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan coach decides to entertain questions regarding his future in the Spanish capital is another issue, but it is a subject that will inevitably arise this weekend.
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, who will speak alongside Barcelona defender Eric Abidal on Saturday afternoon, is also the subject of intense speculation regarding his future.
The Colombian striker is deservedly regarded as one of world football’s best players and he too has been linked with a departure from the Spanish capital.
Mourinho’s old club, Chelsea, are interested in his services with club owner Roman Abramovich reportedly prepared to pay an exorbitant amount to take the striker to Stamford Bridge. Atletico's city rivals, Real, and Manchester City have also been heavily linked.
Again, similarly to Mourinho, it is unclear whether Falcao will respond to the inevitable line of questioning regarding his future, but it is sure to be at the forefront of the media’s interest.
A man that could play a pivotal role in shedding light on the futures of both men is Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes, who will also be in attendance.
Mendes is the representative of both Mourinho and Falcao, and he will also be expecting to receive questions regarding the futures of two of his most high-profile clients.
