Luis Nani looks set to quit Manchester United in the summer after telling friends he sees his future away from the club.
Nani has grown increasingly disillusioned with life at Old Trafford in recent months and with talks over a new contract stalling, the 26-year-old is said to have made up his mind to leave.
The news will come as a blow to United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who said last month that he was hopeful Nani would stay, but confessed that he had itchy feet over his lack of game time.
'I would definitely prefer to keep him,' said Ferguson.
'We have been speaking to Nani's agent for quite a few weeks now but it is entirely up to the boy himself. I would prefer to keep him until the end of his contract. He wants guaranteed first-team football.'
The Portugal winger is yet to establish himself as a regular in the United side this season, and with the club refusing to meet his wage demands on a new contract, reports in his home land suggest Nani has now told his close friends that he will seek a transfer in the summer.
Arsenal, AC Milan and former club Sporting Lisbon have all been linked with deals for Nani, but it's thought his preference is to move to Spain.
But any transfer would prove to be difficult, with United set to demand up to £15million while Nani is keen to earn around £100,000-a-week on his next contract.
His current deal runs until the end of next season.
