Dutch scout believes young stars are never given a chance at Stamford Bridge.
Check in to Southampton FC vs Chelsea
Former Chelsea Chief Scout and Director of Development Frank Arnesen has slammed the London club over their failure to give young players a chance in the first team according to The London Evening Standard.
The Danish was brought to the club from Tottenham in 2005 which saw The Blues pay Spurs a compensation package of over £5 million.
He was expected to bring in young and talented stars that would ensure the club no longer had to spent huge sums on bringing in established names.
But despite Arnesen spending over £62 million on young talent, few have even gone on to make a dent in the Chelsea starting eleven.
The only player to have appeared regularly for the Stamford Bridge outfit is Ryan Bertrand, who was signed for the club from Gillingham for an initial fee of £125,000.
But when quizzed over the lack of young players in the Chelsea first-team, Arnesen was defiant insisting a number of his signings were sold on at a profit.
Arensen pointed to the likes of Daniel Sturridge, Fabio Borini and Miroslav Stoch who have since been sold for a combined £30 million.
Arnesen insists that it is the pressure put on the club's managers that is responsible for the failure of young players to make their way into the Chelsea first team.
