Wenger in 'contact' with PSG owners over summer move?

He's been adamant that the will see out the remainder of his contract at Arsenal, but Arsene Wenger could yet be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Reports in the French media claim the 63-year-old has been in regular contact with the Qatari-owners of Paris Saint-Germain about taking up the managerial reins at the club.

Wenger, contracted to Arsenal until 2014, has come under increasing pressure in North London with some disgruntled fans even calling for him to walk away as they face up to the prospect of eighth season without a trophy.

Current PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti is expected to depart the Parc des Princes at the end of the season despite guiding the club to the top of Ligue 1 in their quest for a first league title since 1994.

The former Chelsea and AC Milan boss has also masterminded PSG's run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after seeing off Valencia in the last 16 in midweek.

But the Italian's future remains the subject of speculation after he admitted last month that he had "no problem" walking away if the owners were unhappy with his work.

It has also been claimed that sporting director Leonardo, a close ally of Ancelotti, is "90 per cent" likely to leave his post in the summer, all of which has added to the growing  speculation that the club's owners are clearing the way for Wenger.

RMC radio quoted a source close to the club confirming that contact between Wenger and the aides of president Nasser Al Khelaifi has been made.

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, another expected to be on the lookout for work come the summer, has been heavily linked with the post over the past few months and refused to rule out a move last month.

But it is understood PSG chiefs have made Wenger their No1 target as they look to increase their popularity and image in France after coming in for criticism following their takeover in May 2011.

Wenger has been an outspoken critic of billionaire owners in football in the past, labelling their backing a form of "financial doping" that was having a detrimental affect on the competition.

However, despite investing heavily in the club over the past two years - spending over €250million in the transfer market in that time - PSG's owners are determined to create a more sustainable model with Wenger apparently key to their plans.
