Stoke complete £4million signing of England keeper Jack Butland

England goalkeeper Jack Butland has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Premier League Stoke.

The Potters had a £4million offer accepted by Birmingham earlier in the day and the move was ratified late on deadline day after the young stopper agreed personal terms.

Butland, who rejected a move to Chelsea earlier this week in order to play regular football, will be immediately loaned back to Lee Clark’s Championship side for the remainder of the season.

‘It’s been an incredible day – a very exciting one, but I’m glad it’s finished,’ said Butland. ‘I love playing and I don’t want to sit on the bench. For me, it was important I went to a club where I can play and develop my game.’

The move finished off a good day for Butland who was earlier named in Roy Hodgson’s England squad to take on Brazil.

The 19-year-old is seen by Stoke boss Tony Pulis as an ideal long-term replacement for Asmir Begovic who is lined up for a move to one of the Premier League top four in the summer.

Stoke also completed the signing of  wing-back Brek Shea from FC Dallas after the American international was granted a work permit.

Unboxing Authentic Nike Mercurial Vapor 8 VIII Seaweed Volt Challenge Red SG

Unboxing Authentic Nike Mercurial Vapor 8 VIII Seaweed Volt Challenge Red SG After the eye-catching Mango and Clash releases, Nike have toned down their new Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots. But they couldn't resist some slight eccentricity, and have called the new colourway Seaweed! But with the combination of Volt it's a nice subtle off-black colour, so take a look and let us know what you think... The colour combo might not divide boot fans quite like the previous releases, but it does sound odd saying players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eden Hazard will be sporting Seaweed on their football boots! But of course in all seriousness, Nike are continuing to deliver one of the most technically advanced and material efficient speed boots to their athletes. For the 2012/13 season the Mercurial Vapor takes performance innovation to the next level with a totally re-engineered boot built for explosive speed. Nike have unveiled a boot with even better performance attributes and a new synthetic upper material. A series that has been at the pinnacle of the game for over a decade returns with ground breaking innovation and cutting edge technology. Talking visuals, the outside of the Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII hosts a smaller Swoosh to the previous Vapor, however no brand identity is lost as the striking new design features a distinctive Swoosh on the instep of the boot in the stand-out Volt colour, as well as a visual signature on the heel. Sturridge Chelsea exit hastened by Falcao rumours

With the possible arrival of Radamel Falcao in January, it seems there's no room in Chelsea's forward dimension for Daniel Sturridge. Reports in Tuesday's press suggest that the 23-year-old could be leaving Stamford Bridge when the transfer window re-opens. Sturridge has not started a Premier League game this season. And with Fernando Torres Roberto Di Matteo's preferred central striker, competition for places in the Blues' attack is fierce. The arrivals of Oscar, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses haven't helped, either. And should a move for Falcao materialise, that may prompt Sturridge to find a new club by the turn of the year. Sturridge had been linked with Liverpool this summer but a move broke down on transfer deadline day. But Brendan Rodgers has renewed his interest in Sturridge as he attempts to solve his striker crisis at Anfield - the Reds are believed to be preparing a 15 million-pound bid. But they face competition from Tottenham, with former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas reportedly keen on bringing Sturridge to White Hart Lane.. Another player whose Chelsea career may be coming to a close is Florent Malouda. After training with the under-21s this season, the outcast midfielder may be set for a move to Santos. But moving to the Brazilian club has already had its difficulties - with manager Muricy Ramalho describing the Frenchman's wage demands as "absurd" and "crazy".

Chelsea Plan Last Ditch Move to Sign Real Madrid Playmaker Kaka

Kaka ChelseaStamford Bridge side keen on landing Brazilian international in last minute move.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Chelsea are reportedly interested in a last ditch deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Kaka.

The Brazilian international has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for some time now and Roman Abramovich is keen to strengthen his Blues side whilst also bringing in a 'marquee' signing to help appease unhappy fans who have seen the West London club fall away from contention in every major competition since Rafa Benitez took over from Roberto Di Matteo last November.

fanatix tickets - Barclays Premier League tickets are still available for this weekend's games.
Newcastle vs Chelsea tickets are on sale from £18 for the match at St James Park on Saturday

Though Abramovich is aware that such a move could be too late in the day for the January transfer window the Russian is keen to send the Bernabeu playmaker a clear message that Chelsea are interested in acquiring his services.

The former AC Milan man has become something of a bit-part player under manager Jose Mourinho, who does not appear to see him as part of his first-team plans.

Both PSG and AC Milan were linked with moves to sign the 30 year old but were apparently unwilling to meet the former World Footballer of the Year's wage demands, demands Abramovich is happy to meet.

The Chelsea owner sees Kaka as a potential short term replacement for Frank Lampard and believes he could persuade the attacking midfielder to make a move to the Premier League side either this month or more likely in the summer.

Kaka may well be tempted by the chance of a move to Stamford Bridge, not least because he would link up with national team colleagues David Luiz, Ramires and Oscar.

Kaka has started just four of Real Madrid's 35 games in all competitions this term.

Brentford 2-2 Chelsea

Thank heavens for Fernando Torres. Chelsea were starring at humiliation at the hands of lower-league opposition and Rafael Benítez was feeling the fury of the club's travelling support when the striker, who has become synonymous with a failure to deliver when it really matters, did precisely that.

Torres's late equaliser was marked by the kind of quality that originally persuaded Chelsea to break the British transfer record to sign him and whilst it is trite to suggest that it repaid a slice of the £50m, there could be no doubting the relief that it triggered at the club. Benítez was prominent among the beneficiaries. His 78th-minute substitution of Branislav Ivanovic for Cesar Azpilicuetua, one right-back for another, as Chelsea trailed to Harry Forrester's penalty, drew derision from the away enclosure, who told him that he did not know what he was doing. There was also the stock reminder that the interim manager is not wanted by them.

Torres's instinctive finish – right-footed, into the far corner, giving the goalkeeper Simon Moore no chance – painted happier headlines for Chelsea, who had to fear the worst after Ballboy-gate at Swansea City last Wednesday. Chelsea could even have snatched it in injury-time when Juan Mata's cross struck Harlee Dean's hand. Somehow, there was no penalty award.

It would have been cruel on Brentford, though, if they had been denied the replay, after they had contributed so heavily to an engrossing tie. There were heroes aplenty in their colours and the cheers from the home crowd at the final whistle spoke of a famous result. Kool and the Gang's Celebration was played to catch the mood.

Benítez had taken few chances with his line-up, although he would tell you that his resources are so stretched at present he has little room for manoeuvre. He started with all six of his senior English players and it was one of those occasions that called for total commitment and focus. Brentford had it in abundance, particularly in midfield, and yet there were also flashes of skill, notably from Shaleum Logan and Forrester up the left flank, on a pitch that looked difficult at the outset and cut up ominously. Believe it or not, Chelsea paid for the surface to be seeded, as part of the deal that allows their Under-21s to play here sometimes.

The pitch was a leveller, despite the Brentford manager Uwe Rösler's preference for a passing game. The plain fact was that as Chelsea battled to come to terms with the bobbles and the way that the ball would unexpectedly slow up, Brentford revelled in familiarity.

Rösler's team controlled the first half and they were the likelier scorers of the opening goal. The home crowd had already taunted their rivals about it being something of a joke that they were the champions of Europe when Marcello Trotta plunged them into delirium. Adam Forshaw, who epitomised the intensity of Brentford's pressing, won the ball off Frank Lampard and Forrester tried his luck from 20 yards.

Ross Turnbull, in for Petr Cech, had looked nervous in the Chelsea goal. He had endured an early misunderstanding with John Terry, which resulted in him getting too close to the returning captain and picking up his back-pass. Forrester lifted the free-kick over the crossbar. Forrester's shot was on target on this occasion, if not exactly struck with venom but Turnbull could do nothing more than parry the ball to the feet of Trotta. His finish was true.

Chelsea were dismal in the first half. They created nothing of note and it was a struggle for them to piece together passes. Brentford looked as though they wanted it more. Then again, it was their biggest game in years. The old stadium was packed to the rafters and the cup tie fervour was tangible.

Brentford's players mucked in for the collective. Clayton Donaldson, the top scorer in League One, rolled up his sleeves in a wide-right role for 70 minutes while Logan, a right-back by trade, filled the problem position at left-back, following the untimely suspension to Jake Bidwell. Benítez's response was to introduce Mata for Marko Marin at half-time, move Oscar to the right and, presumably, instruct his team to show a bit more backbone. They looked more purposeful upon the restart, penning Brentford back, and the equaliser duly arrived. It was an absolute beauty. Oscar had looked as though he would rather be elsewhere in the first-half; possibly, on a beach in his native Brazil. At least, there was plenty of sand on the pitch here. But he came alive inside the penalty to show his balance and technical class. When the ball broke to him, he wriggled past Brentford defenders to buy himself space before he curled home with the outside of his right boot. Mata drew a smart save out of Moore shortly afterwards and it seemed as though Chelsea were primed to weather the storm.

Wrong. Rösler withdrew Trotta for Tom Adeyemi and switched Donaldson up front and the move paid a stunning dividend. Donaldson's pass ushered in Adeyemi and when he nicked the ball past Turnbull, he found himself impeded by the advancing Chelsea goalkeeper's challenge. Chelsea complained about the lack of contact but Turnbull had been clumsy, at best. He was booked – the sanction could have been worse, on another day – and Forrester beat him from the penalty spot.

Ivanovic went close with an overhead kick and the Chelsea fans' mood darkened when Benítez replaced him with Azpilicueta, although the Spaniard did cross for Ryan Bertrand to head off target. Torres, however, stepped forward to save the day. Chelsea could exhale. Reported by guardian.co.uk 4 days ago. ~Chelsea Headlines on One News Page [United Kingdom]~

Chelsea ‘Could Sign’ £29m Brazilian Willian After Proposed Move to Anzhi Falls Through

Willian Chelsea MoveStamford Bridge side back in the race to sign playmaker.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Chelsea & Tottenham could 'yet sign' Brazilian playmaker Willian according to ITV Football.

fanatix tickets - Barclays Premier League tickets are still available for this weekend's games.
Newcastle vs Chelsea tickets are on sale from £18 for the match at St James Park on Saturday

The 24 year old Shakhtar Donetsk attacking midfielder has long been linked with both London sides but had appeared to be set to join Anzhi but the big spending Russian Premier League side's £29m bid for Willian was turned down by his Ukrainian employers.

Reigning Champions League holders Chelsea may well be ahead of Tottenham in Willian's thinking, not least because he would join fellow countrymen Oscar, David Luiz, Ramires and Lucas Piazon at Stamford Bridge.

Willian could be seen as an ideal replacement for veteran Frank Lampard and would fit in well with the West London club's current array of creative talents.

One does wonder just how much Shakhtar would demand for Willian, who the Donbass Arena side may already be planning to cash in on following the recent signing of Taison from Metalist Kharkiv.

Willian is into his sixth season at Shakhtar and has been a massive success during his spell securing four domestic titles and a UEFA Cup triumph and therefore the former Corinthians man may feel he has achieved all he can in the Ukraine.

Qatar shelves controversial Chelsea Barracks scheme as UK economy stalls

Qatari Diar, emirate's property arm, freezes London's £3bn Chelsea Barracks project amid doubts over plan's viability

Qatar has put its biggest single investment in London on hold, citing concerns about the British economy.

The gas and oil-rich state has placed the £3bn Chelsea Barracks housing development under review and a source close to the project said that while it could still go ahead, one option was to sell the "super-prime" site without building what has been dubbed a "Gucci ghetto" of 450 luxurious residences and 123 affordable homes.

Qatari Diar, the emirate's property arm, has secured planning permission for the scheme, which includes seven-bedroom mansions as well as one-bedroom flats. But today the £1bn site stands empty with weeds growing through the concrete.

"It now seems a huge gamble to deliver all of this," a Qatari source told the Guardian. "They [the developers] will take their time and see how the numbers stack up in due course." He added that while the scheme could still be built, "they could sell [the site] any time".

The rethink of the Qataris' flagship project comes as the latest UK economic data showed Britain heading for a triple-dip recession. Qatar is now the richest country in the world per capita and already owns 80% of the Shard, the tallest building in western Europe, all of Harrods and the US embassy in Mayfair and is joint owner of the Olympic Village and the Shell Centre on the South Bank.

But no office lettings have yet been announced in the Shard and concerns about the future appetite for luxury homes in London mean the risk of pouring a further £2bn into construction in a stagnant economy has caused concern in Doha. Britain's economic data has also compounded fears that the emirate over-paid when it gave the Ministry of Defence (MoD) £959m for the site in 2007.

"The strategy is under review," confirmed a Qatari Diar spokeswoman. "The developer is currently refining its strategy for the development of this unique site to progress and realise its vision for this important part of London.

"It is taking advantage of the opportunity to review and respond to the context of the prevailing economic environment in preparing for the next stage of the development," she said.

Qatar's wariness also stems from its reluctance to cause further controversy in the UK, the Guardian understands. Qatar's purchase of the site in the oligarchs' playgrounds of Belgravia and Chelsea was made for geopolitical gain as well diversifying its wealth – Qatar has said it is part of a strategy of using property investments to "redefine Qatar" and "create a sphere of influence in London".

But when Qatar published its original designs by the modernist architect Richard Rogers in 2009, Prince Charles personally wrote to the prime minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jabor Al Thani, complaining the scheme seemed part of a "gigantic experiment with the very soul of this city" carried out by "brutalists". He urged Qatar instead to "bequeath a unique and enduring legacy to London" and the letter was published as part of a bruising high court battle that was uncomfortably high profile for the secretive emirate.

Rogers was fired and the prince's architectural advisers were appointed to help draw up a brief to select a more traditional design, which royal aides have endorsed.

With the replacement designs remaining controversial and Qatar counting Britain as an important ally in the politically and militarily volatile Gulf, Doha does not want to cause further problems with powerful neighbours, the Qatari source said.

The decision to put the scheme on hold is seen as so sensitive that it has not been communicated to key consultants on the project. Architects commissioned to draw up the masterplan, including the designers of the Royal Opera House, Dixon Jones, have not received instructions for over a year and Westminster city council, which granted planning consent in the summer of 2011, has been kept in the dark.

Local and national politicians had hoped the development would help alleviate London's acute shortage of affordable housing. When the site was being sold by the MoD, the then communities minister, Lady Andrews, said affordable housing units would contribute to solving "the enormous housing stresses in London". If the scheme were to be built, the Qataris would be also due to contribute £78m to Westminster city council's housing fund.

This week the site was a scene of desolation. Instead of bustling construction, buddleia sprouts from broken concrete and guard dogs prowl behind barbed wire-topped hoardings.

"I'm not sure anyone outside the Gulf knows [what is going on]," said a consultant working on the scheme. "When I ask the guys from Qatari Diar [in London], they just shrug their shoulders. It received outline consent in late 2011 and some work was done moving things forward with detailed designs. Those designs were sent to Doha and that was it.

"They paid about £1bn for the site and maybe that was just pin money to them. It doesn't make sense to me. I look at what is on offer at Chelsea and I think people would snap it up."

A source who was until recently working on the project said: "It's odd they are not doing anything because the residential markets are really rolling right now."

Located in what estate agents call the "super-prime" SW1 postcode area of west London, many of the flats would sell for more than £10m, a price bracket that has seen a 40% rise in prices from the market upturn in March 2009 to June 2012, according to data from the estate agents Knight Frank. The number of sales in SW1 rose by 29% between 2011 and 2012.

The Chelsea Barracks site is located in a very wealthy area that has been largely insulated from economic decline. Luxury cars, such as Ferraris with Swiss number plates, cruise past exclusive furniture boutiques such as Linley, which is owned by the Queen's nephew, and Michelin-starred restaurants.

In the last two years a third of properties sold in the SW1 area were purchased by British citizens, while 34% were bought by people from Russia, former Soviet republics and the Middle East.

The lack of activity has been a mixed blessing for local opponents of the project, with some delighted that there is no building happening and others concerned at the uncertainty.

"We are selling London out to the Qataris and they are not coming up with the goods," said Georgina Thorburn, chairwoman of the Chelsea Barracks Action Group, a local group alliance opposed to the plans. "A lot of local people have been very stressed out by this project, particularly the older residents, who worry about the impact on their lives.

Reading 2 - Chelsea 2: Manager Reaction - Mr. Interim rejects reality, substitutes his own

160391646

Few things are worse than the idea of a certain ex-Liverpool manager in charge of beloved Chelsea. One of those worse things is the hot, suffocating air that escapes from said ex-Liverpool manager in charge of beloved Chelsea in the form of words and sentences uttered at pre- and post-match conferences. To avoid inflicting permanent harm on myself and the various electronics in my possession, I've been actively ignoring most of these.

But I couldn't help doing a double-take on this one.

Ok, that's just your traditional sensationalist, headline-grabbing over-exaggeration that's common practice in all forms of media, right? Surely, Mr. Interim Idiot couldn't have sang such silly short-sighted soliloquies in a time when Chelsea have been piling on dreadful result after dreadful result, could he? I mean, there's got to be a limit where he attains a certain tiny-tiny level of self-awareness, right?

Wrong.

(Against Reading) was a fantastic game. We still need to get the result we deserve.

-Source: F&H Chronicle

Oh dear. "Fantastic." I'm assuming on the scale that he's using in this moment, a 2-3 loss would've been good, a 2-4 loss decent, while a 2-1 or 2-0 win would've been the greatest football match result ever of all known space and time.

There's also that lovely word "deserve." "Still need to get the result we deserve." I thought it was silly when Barcelona kept using this word to excuse away their loss to Chelsea - an isolated occurrence that, depending on your viewpoint, has either an infinitesimally small or perhaps just a rather unlikely chance of ever repeating itself.

But that's not even close to how silly it sounds from the mouth of this buffoon, who now has been in charge of seven of Chelsea's eight worst performances of the season, including three draws on the trot, four home losses, a joke of a Cup World Cup, and two two-goal comebacks suffered at the hands of relegation fodder. Three wins from nine in January. "It's not my fault, I swear; I'm just very very very very very very unlucky," he must think to himself as he rocks himself to sleep each night on the piles of Roman Abramovich's money.

Speaking of not his fault...

It's difficult to explain... [blah blah blah blah blah blah]

-Source: ChelseaFC.com

I don't have a concrete count on this, but this guy has to have the copyright on this phrase for the number of times he trots it out in his press conferences. Isn't it his JOB to figure this out? Isn't it his JOB to fix the problems? Isn't that why he was brought in, to take the club in the proper direction or whatnot? To, ummm, you know, win? So what was the point again of all this circus?

It is indeed difficult to explain.

We are improving. We did an exercise with corners and free-kicks (on Tuesday) and it was fine.

-Source: F&H Chronicle

Holy [shoe], guys! They did an exercise with corners and free-kicks! It was so money, you wouldn't even know it!

Difficult, indeed. To Explain.

Last spring, Ramires spoke of how Roberto Di Matteo restored the squad's confidence in itself. Based on Di Matteo's handling of the press and his ability to actually take responsibility for his actions and decisions, and most importantly on the actual results to which he guided the team, it's easy to see how that confidence was restored.

It's hardly a stretch to now say that all that good work has been completely undone by this shameful brouhaha. This wet sponge of a manager, impermeable to accountability, has swallowed up all the passion and all the swagger and left us with a sinkful of putrid waste water, a steaming pile of excuses, and a useless, apathetic rest of a 2012-13 season to look forward to.

I ended that last sentence with a preposition. It's difficult to explain. Not my fault. Fact. I controlled the writing and put in a fantastic effort, but it's difficult to explain. Not my fault. I didn't get a pre-season.

Stoke close on Jack Butland and Brek Shea while Asmir Begovic will stay put

Stoke City are closing in on deals for Jack Butland and Brek Shea, but Asmir Begovic will not be leaving the Britannia Stadium.

Birmingham City goalkeeper Butland, who is regarded as one of the best prospects in England, opened talks with Stoke last night after snubbing a switch to Chelsea, and manager Tony Pulis is thought to be confident of fending off interest from Fulham to secure the deal.

Stoke moved ahead in the race after promising the youngster that he will be loaned out for regular first-team football – something both Chelsea and Fulham refused to offer.

Pulis is also set to attend a work permit hearing today for American wing-back Shea, who has passed a trial at the club and is on the cusp of securing a transfer from FC Dallas.

Staying put: Asmir Begovic won’t be leaving Stoke today (Picture: Daily Mail)

Elsewhere, stopper Begovic, linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, has confirmed he will be staying a Stoke player this month.

'As far as I know [I am staying at Stoke] yes,'

'I don't see anything happening now. I think that time's passed. I'm just concentrating on what I need to do here.'

But while Begovic is staying put, striker Crouch is edging closer to a £5million switch to QPR, with talks said to be at an advanced stage.

If that one goes through, Stoke will hang on to Kenwyne Jones, who is a known target for Norwich and had been subject of a £3million bid from Swansea earlier this month.

Chelsea experience deja vu against Reading

Just when you think that Chelsea are sailing towards a comfortable three points against Reading they manage to torpedo themselves once again. A match that had been all but won instead ended with the inquests and finger-pointing that have slowly become the hallmark of Rafael Benitez's reign. These slips are happening far too often to be mere aberrations and they are threatening to derail what should be a comfortable march towards automatic qualification in the Champions League. It had appeared that Chelsea might have turned the corner after breaking the deadlock at the end of a dour first half with the second period progressing swimmingly until Adam Le Fondre's intervention from the substitutes' bench. ~ESPNFC.com - chelsea~

Frank Lampard: 5 Potential Summer Replacements for Chelsea Star

Chelsea fans' hopes of Frank Lampard being offered a deal to keep him at the club until the end of his career are fading fast. The club's short-sighted policy of not offering players over 30 any more than a one-year extension to their current contracts looks likely to see off one of their greatest servants of recent years.

Lampard is currently the second-highest goal scorer in the club's 108-year history, and he needs seven more to overtake Bobby Tambling's record of 202 goals for Chelsea. As the first-choice penalty taker he could get that number this season, although if he falls short it will not be through lack of trying.

The man the fans call "Super Frank" scored 20 goals or more every season between 2005-06 and 2009-10, an amazing feat from a box-to-box midfielder. He has also amassed 130 assists throughout his Chelsea career and captained the side to their greatest victory ever in the Champions League Final in 2012.

His work rate is second to none, and he often stays behind for extra work after a training session. It is this dedication along with his respect for the club and its fans that have led him to acquire legendary status in West London, despite his roots at West Ham.

Although Ashley Cole has been offered an extension to his current deal, Lampard looks set for an exit at the end of the season even though he has offered to take a pay cut. This will leave Chelsea with a gaping hole in their midfield, and although there will be nobody who can replace Lampard in the hearts of the fans, whoever is in charge of the team in the summer could do a lot worse than look at these five players to fill the void on the pitch.

Chelsea blew a 2-0 lead as Reading climbed out of the bottom three after 'supersub' Adam Le Fondre scored two late goals in a 2-2 draw.

The Blues, held to a draw by third-tier Brentford in the FA Cup, had to wait until first-half stoppage-time before taking the lead at the Madejski Stadium, with a neat pass from Fernando Torres setting up his fellow Spaniard Juan Mata, who drilled a low shot into the net.

Frank Lampard, repeatedly linked with a move away from Chelsea despite impressing yet again this term, made it 2-0 in the 66th minute when he rose above the Royals' defence to head in a corner.

But Le Fondre increased the pressure on Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez with two well-struck goals in the final three minutes.

Tottenham consider swapping Benoit Assou-Ekotto for Inter Milan’s Alvaro Pereira

Moving on? Benoit Assou-Ekotto could move to Inter Milan as part of a swap deal (Picture: Getty)

Andre Villas-Boas is prepared to send Benoit Assou-Ekotto to Inter Milan in a swap deal which would take his former Porto favourite Alvaro Pereira to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham coach Villas-Boas tried to sign the Uruguayan defender when he was in charge at Chelsea and the 27-year-old was sold by the Portuguese club to the Italians for £8million last August.

Sources in Italy suggest the deadline day deal could go through as the Spurs chief seeks to improve the squad which was left to him by predecessor Harry Redknapp.

Assou-Ekotto has been sidelined by injury for most of the season and is clearly considered expendable if Pereira, who was one of AVB's key players when Porto won the treble a couple of seasons ago, can be recruited instead.

Cameroon international Assou-Ekotto has been a regular starter since he joined from Lens in a deal worth £3.5milliom in June 2006.

He has made 175 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions, scoring just four goals.

Chelsea Linked With Interest In Serie A Teen Sensation

Icardi ChelseaStamford Bridge side scouting Sampdoria forward.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Chelsea are said to be monitoring the development of up and coming Sampdoria striker Mauro Icardi according to Inside Futbol.

Fulham vs Chelsea tickets still available

The 19 year old Argentine has been in sparkling form for his Genoa based side this season, scoring seven goals despite having made just ten Serie A starts for Sampdoria.

Icardi netted an excellent brace to see his side to a surprise win at Juventus and then followed up with a four goal haul against Pescara. The Argentine Under 20 international is now being scouted by a number of Europe's 'Elite' and Barcelona may be beginning to wish they hadn't allowed the teenager to leave the club to move to Italy.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is seemingly keen to build a young squad and having spent over £80m to bring in six youngsters over the summer the Russian billionaire may well be considering a move to bring Icardi to West London. Ligue 2 side Monaco are also said to be interested in the Rosario born striker.
