Manchester United can extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 18 points when they go to Sunderland for a Saturday lunchtime stroll.

Sir Alex Ferguson will have one eye on Monday’s FA Cup replay with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and may field a weakened side but they should still be too strong for the luckless Black Cats, who discovered this week that striker Steve Fletcher and midfielder Lee Catermole will miss the rest of the season.

United are 4/6 in most places to win and Mexican marvel Javier Hernandez is 6/4 with Coral to be on target.

Chelsea can also gain a morale-boosting win ahead of the big FA Cup quarter-final replay to push Southampton deeper into relegation trouble at St Mary’s at 6/5 with Bet Victor and William Hill.

Meanwhile, Capital One Cup finalists Wigan can inch closer to Premier League safety by picking up maximum points at home to Norwich.

The Latics have gained just 13 points all season on home soil but catch a break because the Canaries are terrible travellers with just one win in their last 17 excursions from Carrow Road.

Following Wigan at evens with Paddy Power should be profitable as they have won four of their last five games in all competitions while Norwich have only won one of their last nine league and cup matches.

Everton can pile more misery on under-fire Stoke boss Tony Pulis by beating the Potters at Goodison Park at 4/6 with William Hill and Boylesports while Bet Victor and Coral offer 21/20 that both teams score when Manchester City entertain Newcastle.

Indiana Pacers are over their NBA slide and back to top form and they can win by more than 6.5 points at the feeble Phoenix Suns.
