Former Chelsea youngster Ben Gordon poised to sign for Yeovil Town

Former Chelsea youngster Ben Gordon poised to sign for Yeovil Town This is Somerset -- Former Chelsea youngster Ben Gordon will sign for Yeovil Town on Monday whilst Gary Johnson casts his eye over a young Jamaican midfielder. The Glovers' boss has signalled his intent to potentially add two new faces to his squad, with versatile left-back Gordon - who played with Johnson's son Lee at Kilmarnock - the first. The 22-year-old travelled to Hartlepool United today along with a player believed to be Jamaica under-20s captain Omar Holness. The Glovers picked up a point from a 0-0 draw. On Gordon, Johnson said: "People half know that I have looked to bring in Ben Gordon and he is joining is on Monday. "We have got to start bringing in one or two. I don't want to start doing it at the last minute on deadline day when you can't sign anyone. "He can play in central midfield as well. I have seen him quite a few times at Kilmarnock when I watched them in the Scottish Cup final and games likes that. "He's a good player and not only that but a good character. That's what I have got to bring in so they can quickly mix with the characters and personalities in the changing room." Holness, who spent a similar trial period at Bolton Wanderers earlier this season, is believed to hold a British passport and played in the Glovers behind-closed-doors friendly against Hereford United in midweek. Without revealing a name, Johnson said: "He's a Jamaican boy that has been recommended to us and they tell us he's a top player. "He's a free agent. We are going to wait a week or so before we make a decision. He's only 19 and he got Young Jamaican Player of the Year. "We don't see him as first team material right now but you never know he might be by the end of the week. Rather than have him sat in a Yeovil hotel we would rather have him here (in Hartlepool). He played in that practice game and looked very useful." Reported by This is 1 hour ago. ~Chelsea Headlines on One News Page [United Kingdom]~
