Everton boss David Moyes insists last weekend's FA Cup defeat to Wigan won't affect whether he extends his contract at Goodison Park.

Moyes' current deal expires at the end of the season, with reports linking him to Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal after 11 years on Merseyside.

But the Scot has always maintained he will decide on his future in the summer and insists last Saturday's surprise 3-0 defeat in the sixth round of the FA Cup will have no bearing on his decision.

'It doesn’t alter anything. The decision at the end of the season will be made by me and the players and how well we all do together, how high we finish in the league. It’s never changed,' he said.

Everton are currently seventh in the Premier League, level on points with local rivals Liverpool and just two behind Arsenal, who occupy the Europa League qualification place.

But despite Moyes not having won a trophy in his time at Goodison Park, his tenure is widely regarded as a huge success and Toffees midfielder Leon Osman is in no doubt he wants the 49-year-old to remain at the club.

'In the 10, 11 years he has been here, he has taken us to fighting from relegation every season to the final stages of cup competitions and to the top end of the table, so his record speaks for itself,' Osman said.

'[The best thing is] the manner in which he has done it, we will see what happens at the end of the season and hopefully he stays.'

Everton host reigning champions Manchester City in tomorrow's lunchtime kick-off and a win would see them leapfrog both Liverpool and Arsenal, with the pair not playing their respective fixtures against Southampton and Swansea until 3pm.
