Jose Mourinho looks set to become the new manager of Chelsea, according to The Metro.

They are reporting that Chelsea owner, Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, and their former boss Jose Mourinho have agreed a provisional deal for the Portuguese boss to rejoin the club come the summer.

Mourinho is currently in charge at Spanish giants Real Madrid but he is widely expected to leave the La Liga giants after enduring a difficult season.

The team got off to a slow start that has seen them lose vital ground to Barcelona in the race for the Spanish title, while Spanish newspaper Marca reported in January that senior members of the Real dressing room, thought to be Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos, informed the club's hierarchy that they would be handing in transfer requests should Mourinho still be in charge at the start of next season.

Chelsea fans are desperate to see Mourinho return to the Stamford Bridge dug-out after also enduring a disappointing season under interim manager and former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.

It was thought that Abramovich was reluctant to re-appoint Mourinho after his acrimonious departure from the club six years ago but the pair now seem to have resolved their differences, paving the way for a return to the Premier League for the 'Special One'.
