Palermo's trigger-happy chairman Maurizio Zamparini has once again made Chelsea look like a safe haven for managers by axing coach Alberto Malesani after only three games – and replacing him with the man who he fired less than a month ago.
Gian Piero Gasperini has been recalled to the Rosanero hot seat after Malesani could only muster three draws during his time in charge and became the Sicilian club's third managerial casualty of the season.
'We have regret considering Malesani is a good person and an excellent Coach. We thank him for his efforts,' read a club statement.
'The decision made seems to be the only one to take in this difficult moment.'
Gasperini will now be tasked with guiding Palermo away from the foot of the table, where they currently lie.
The Italian side started the season with Giuseppe Sannino in charge, but sacked him in September to bring in Gasperini.
The 55-year-old was then himself dismissed on February 4, but retakes the reigns from Malesani.
Palermo's volatile president Zamparini, who fires an average of two managers a season, has previous on going crawling back to former bosses after he’s given them the boot.
Francesco Guidolin has coached Palermo four times under Zamparini, while two years ago, Delio Rossi was fired only to be reinstated five weeks later when Serse Cosmi, his replacement, was also dismissed.
