Dutch international centre-back Bruma has played just nine times for Chelsea and is now on his second loan deal away from the club having spent time with Leicester City two seasons ago and the last 18 months at Hamburg.

The 21-year-old has still not been a regular in the Hamburg first-team but the German top-flight club, whose general manager Frank Arnesen first brought Bruma to Chelsea from Feyenoord in Holland, want to keep hold of Bruma beyond the end of the season.

Hamburg are open to another year-long loan deal for the young defender, but are also considering making a cash offer if the price is right.

Arnesen told the Evening Standard: "Bruma has been playing very well, I like everything about him, he is composed, good in the air. All in all, I am very satisfied with his play.

"Chelsea have been keeping an eye on him but I don't know what they are thinking regarding his future. In a couple of months we will have talks with them and see what happens.

"I would like to take him on loan again and if they want to sell him, we would be in the market, too. At the moment we don't have much money, but he has been with us since he was 19 and is progressing very well.

"We are satisfied with him and he is getting better and better. It will be good to have him for one more year. If we can do that I will be very happy."

Bruma, who has been capped four times by Holland at international level, is behind John Terry, David Luiz, Branislav Ivanovic and Gary Cahill in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
