Ashley Williams eyes another Swansea City smash-and-grab at Chelsea

Ashley Williams eyes another Swansea City smash-and-grab at Chelsea This is South Wales --

ASHLEY Williams reckons Swansea City can pull off another "smash-and-grab" success at Chelsea this weekend.

Michael Laudrup's men stunned the European champions on their own patch in January's Capital One Cup semi-final.

And though Swansea are without a win in five games, Williams is convinced they can do it again.

"It was a bit of a smash-and-grab when we got the win there earlier in the season," he conceded.

"But I think it's always going to be like that when you go to a ground like Stamford Bridge. I can't see us ever going and dominating the whole 90 minutes because of the quality they have in their team. It's obviously going to be tough for us and we will have to defend well as a team, but we have done it before."

Chelsea's need for points is greater than Swansea's given that they are part of what looks like a three-way tussle for two Champions League qualification places.

But though Laudrup's men are heading for a mid- table finish, Williams insists they have plenty to play for.

"We are not going to get into the Champions League or get relegated, but it's about personal pride and professionalism for us now," he added. "Players get more money for the games we win as well, so there's a lot to play for.

"We haven't won for a while and we need to go there and put a performance in — that's the main thing."

Without a victory in five, Swansea will be on their worst Premier League run if they fail to pull off an unlikely victory this weekend.

But Williams reckons they have deserved more than a return of only two points from the last 15 on offer.

"It's been really frustrating because we could have got more from the games against Southampton, Norwich and West Brom," he said.

"But we've had difficult runs before and we'll just have to work through it." Reported by This is 22 hours ago. ~Chelsea Headlines on One News Page [United Kingdom]~
