Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho could one day manage in an ever-improving UAE Pro League, according to his friend and Al Ahli manager Quique Sanchez Flores.
The two men spent time together last week as Mourinho visited the country to make a special appearance at the 7th annual Dubai International Sports Conference.
Among the topics of conversation was Pro League football and Quique revealed the former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager was open minded about bringing his career to the Middle East in the future.
Asked specifically about Mourinho coming to the UAE, Quique said: “Sure, I can see it perfectly. Jose is a person who is open to the world of football. He loves the work and I’m sure he is open in the future to come here. He knows that the UAE football will grow in the next few years.
“I was having lunch with Mourinho,” he added. “I was hanging out with Mourinho and (agent) Jorge Mendes. For me it was important because we were talking about football, about his troubles in Spain and how it is different in Spain.
“He was asking me about the UAE league, what the situation is here. It was all very friendly. He told me that as an alternative, the UAE is perfect. Europe is the best option, but it is an alternative because it is a nice place and the UAE have the intention to grow in the future.
“He said ‘Quique you are very happy here, I can see it in your face’. He was interested to know about the UAE players and the UAE stars.”
Mourinho's future at Madrid remains the subject of plenty of speculation given his side's recent woes, including a 3-2 defeat at Malaga last time out which has left Los Blancos trailing leaders Barcelona by a whopping 16 points.
A return to England has long been mooted with Mourinho himself admitting that is is a "dream" of his to return to Premier League where he led Chelsea to their first league title in 50 years back in 2005.
