Ten Last Minute Deals That Could Still Be Completed In the January Transfer Window

Willian Man UnitedThe clock is ticking.

U20 World Cup Soccer Brazil Panama

Philippe Coutinho: Inter Milan to Liverpool

This one looks in the bag.

The Brazilian is seemingly on his way to Anfield for a medical after Inter Milan accepted Liverpool's bid for the 20 year old. The San Siro side are keen to cut costs and having sold Wesley Sneijder to Galatasaray clearly feel they can afford to offload the 20 year old playmaker.

Man City vs Liverpool tickets still available

Once dubbed the 'Next Kaka' it's fair to say Coutinho hasn't really delivered on his potential but clearly still has plenty of time to do so.

Brendan Rodgers is adhering to a youthful transfer policy that fits Liverpool's long term strategy to improve the club's standing after a few lean years and Coutinho could well end up being an inspired bit of business.

Southampton were also said to be keen on the youngster, with new Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino having brought in the young talent to Espanyol on a successful loan spell last term.

Coutinho would be Liverpool's second signing of the January transfer window with Daniel Sturridge already having made an instant impact on Merseyside following his move from Chelsea earlier this month.

Chances of deal going through: 9/10

Graham Sunderland

Danny Graham: Swansea City to Sunderland

By all accounts Swansea City are ready to accept offers for the former Watford man but only if they can bring in a replacement for the 27 year old.

Last term Graham was a key part of Brendan Rodgers' attack but the arrival of Michu has led to something of a limited role in the Liberty Stadium side's first team picture.

Graham has started less than half of his side's Premier League fixtures but did manage four goals in four games during a sweet run of form.

There is a great deal of talk about a move to Sunderland, even though Graham is a confirmed Newcastle United fanatic. Martin O'Neill may well be keen on boosting his attack and this source believes that the South Wales side want £4m-£5m for the in-form forward.

Chances of deal going through: 6/10

Tom Ince Man United

Tom Ince: Blackpool to Liverpool

This deal has been knocking about for months. Blackpool have steadfastly refused to buckle to pressure in pursuit of an asking price they wish to receive for the England Under 21 international and if Liverpool want to re-sign the attacker then they need to pay up.

Blackpool want at least £6m according to the Daily Mail and Brendan Rodgers may well move onto this deal now that Sturridge and Coutinho appear 'in the bag'.

Ince was perhaps all the more likely to leave Bloomfield Road after Ian Holloway left the Tangerines to join Crystal Palace though any move to Liverpool could involve the player being loaned back to the club as they look to push on with a promotion challenge.

Tom Ince has been in great form this term, scoring 13 goals and providing ten assists in Championship action alone this term.

Chances of deal going through: 9/10

Peter Odemwingie

Peter Odemwingie: West Brom to QPR

West Brom have put their foot down in relation to the Nigerian international's attempts to leave the Hawthorns. The experienced striker has put in a transfer request in order to pursue a move to QPR, who seem very keen on the former Lokomotiv Moscow man, but the Baggies turned down that request that leaves any move well and truly hanging in the balance.

Harry Redknapp wants to boost his side's chances of avoiding the drop and knows that half the battle is trying to make his QPR attack more effective. To this end the Loftus Road side brought in Loic Remy but still feel the need to make a move for Odemwingie.

Steve Clarke has no reason to sell and one does wonder why Odemwingie is so keen to leave West Brom though he may feel he is not getting enough playing time having to share first team duties with Shane Long and on loan striker Romelu Lukaku.

Chances of deal going through: 5/10

Soccer - UEFA Under-21 Championship - Qualifying - Group Eight - England v Azerbaijan - Vicarage Road

Jack Butland: Birmingham City to Arsenal

Birmingham City are in a financial mess and are clearly open to offers for the young England man and Arsenal are said to be ready to make an offer for the £6m rated keeper.

The question is, do they need to? Arsene Wenger may not be happy with his current keeping options, with Polish international Wojciech Szczesny not being as comfortable as last term and Vito Mannone making too many silly errors there is scope for a new keeper signing but would the Gunners boss opt for another young talent?

It seems far more likely Wenger would look to bring in an experienced campaigner instead of another young pretender.

Chances of deal going through: 3/10

Willian Man City

Willian: Shakhtar to Tottenham

Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed his interest in the Brazilian playmaker and after Shakhtar Donetsk invested in Taison there is even more scope that the 24 year old will be allowed to leave.

However a move in January is somewhat muddied by the fact that the Ukrainian side are still in the Champions League and as such Willian may well wish to stick around and consider a move in the summer rather than this month.

Tottenham could well do with more midfield creativity having lost both Luka Modric and Rafael Van der Vaart last summer.

Shakhtar will be holding out for a big fee and whether Daniel Levy is willing to make such a bid in January could depend on just how urgently he feels such a move is given the North London club's continued push for that all important top four spot.

Chances of deal going through: 6/10

David Villa Arsenal

David Villa: Barcelona to Arsenal

David Villa is a bit part player at Barcelona and doesn't appear to be happy about it, this could let Arsenal in with a chance of picking up a relatively long term target.

The consensus seems to be that Arsene Wenger will ditch his youthful transfer policy in pursuit of this prized signing and there is perhaps a decent chance of a move taking place, but will it happen this month?

Tito Vilanova may only use Villa sparingly but when called upon the Spanish international scores regularly, 10 goals in 11 starts this season, and therefore with Barcelona challenging on multiple fronts there is no reason why the Nou Camp would opt to sell this month.

Arsenal's need for striking options have perhaps reduced now that Olivier Giroud has once again hit a good run of form, four goals in two games, and with Theo Walcott proving himself in a striking role perhaps a move can wait until the summer?

Chances of deal going through: 6/10

Biglia Man United

Lucas Biglia: Anderlecht to Southampton

Southampton's new boss appears keen on bringing in his Argentine compatriot to St Mary's according to the Daily Mirror.

Mauricio Pochettino may well have a good chance of luring the tough tackling midfielder to the South Coast as the player's Brussels based club seem ready to offload the captain, who has made it abundantly clear he wants to leave.

There has been previous interest from Arsenal but no concrete move from the North London club has been forthcoming so a move to Southampton could be a more likely deal to get done this month.

Pochettino is sure to be backed financially by Southampton as they look to the former Espanyol man to help drag the Saints clear of the drop zone.

Biglia has been in Belgium for eight years but has been impressive enough to still fight his way into the national team set-up despite playing in a 'lesser' league.

Chance of deal going through: 7/10

Diame West Ham

Mohamed Diame: West Ham to Arsenal

The former Wigan Athletic man has a £3.5m release clause and could be seen as the ideal signing to add some much needed steel to the Arsenal midfield and Wenger was happy to single out the 26 year old Senegal international during the press conference ahead of the Gunners match with West Ham on Wednesday.

The Frenchman said of Diame: "'He has a great presence in the games, I have seen him have a big impact."

Diame caught the eye with a match-changing and goalscoring performance from the bench in the Hammers' 3-1 win over Chelsea last month and Wenger confirmed the player's performance had impressed him.

"He was very dangerous against Chelsea. He can drive the midfield, yes," Wenger told Arsenal.com.

As transfers go this is perhaps a very likely one, especially with Wenger opting to loan out Emmanuel Frimpong to Fulham.

Chance of deal going through: 8/10

Garay Man United

Ezequiel Garay: Benfica to Man United

The 26 year old Argentine international has been a big success since his move from Real Madrid to the Lisbon giants, helping the Estadio da Luz side to mount a genuine title challenge this term and is seen by Sir Alex Ferguson as a long term replacement for veteran Rio Ferdinand.

The no nonsense defender is apparently a player Benfica are willing to listen to offers for but only if their €30m (£25m) valuation is met, with Man United said to be willing to offer only around half that fee hoping that the cash strapped Portuguese side relent when they see the colour of the club's money.

However Sir Alex Ferguson is very unlikely to make any big defensive signings this month especially as his back four have become a little firmer having conceded just two goals in their last four Premier League fixtures.

Chance of deal going through: 4/10
