David Moyes showed up early in Manchester as he prepared for an important new job.

Moyes does not officially take over at Manchester United until July 1 but was driven into the club's Carrington training ground earlier today by kit man Albert Morgan – with retiring boss Sir Alex Ferguson also in the car.

Moyes was apparently in cheery mood, as he began the task of replacing the legendary Ferguson, who stepped down yesterday following his side's 5-5 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Michael Carrick insists the players are ready for the challenge, saying: 'For so long we have had the stability of knowing what to expect.

'There are going to be certain things that are new. But many will stay the same because there is a structure there and there is not a lot wrong. We are all looking forward to it.'

Moyes took charge of his final Everton match yesterday with a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, after 11 years at the Goodison Park helm.
