'Watch out for surprises': Mourinho opens door to Chelsea return

Jose Mourinho has dropped the biggest hint yet that he would consider a return to Chelsea by claiming his next move could be to "somewhere I've already been".

Mourinho's future at Real Madrid remains uncertain despite the Portuguese rejecting claims that he had already reached an agreement to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

Qatari owned Paris Saint-Germain have been heavily linked with the 50-year-old throughout the season with Mourinho himself previously stating that he would be open to a move to the French capital.

However, having made no secret of his desire to one day return to England he has now opened the door to a possible return to Chelsea with whom he won two Premier League titles in three years before leaving in 2007.

"I have an adventurous spirit and do not know what will happen next season," said Mourinho at the opening of an exhibition in Setubal.

"It's not easy to choose a new destination after working in England, Portugal, Italy and Spain. Maybe I could return to somewhere I've already been. Watch out for surprises."

Chelsea will be on the lookout for their 10th manager of owner Roman Abramovich's reign this summer with interim boss Rafael Benitez set to stand down after a troubled spell.

Mourinho left Chelsea in September 2007 after a falling out with Abramovich, although the two men have long since resolved their differences, leading to speculation that the Portuguese could return.
