Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich is reluctant to re-appoint Jose Mourinho according to The Daily Express.

The Russian oligarch is currently in the process of drawing up his list of potential replacements for interim manager Rafa Benitez.

The former Liverpool boss is due to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season after suffering a tumultuous time during his brief period in charge of the London club.

Chelsea fans are keen to see the 'Special One' re-appointed after having to endure Benitez, who is widely disliked amongst the Stamford Bridge faithful.

Mourinho was in charge during the club's most successful spell, securing back-to-back titles amongst the six trophies he won during his time in charge.

His successors have often operated under the shadow of his accomplishments, and there are increasing calls amongst Chelsea fans for him to be placed in charge of the club once again.

Mourinho and Abramovich parted in acrimonious circumstances however which could prove an obstacle to his return. The current Real Madrid boss was unhappy at what he perceived to be interference from the owner following the signing of expensive flop Andriy Shevchenko.

A source close to the club said 'Roman is not sure of Jose, because of the history between the two of them and what happened before. He is worried the same things could happen again. He's still making up his mind.'
