Chelsea’s Loss Is Tottenham’s Gain As Andre Villas-Boas Rebuilds Reputation

When Andre Villas-Boas arrives at work every morning, things must seem a lot more rosy than they did this time last year. Having seen his Chelsea side beaten away at West Bromwich Albion and reportedly lost leadership of the squad, Roman Abramovich wielded what is now known as his customary axe. It seemed incredible how a man touted as the 'mini-Mourinho' when he took over had seen his plans crushed and reputation shattered in a little over half a year. The sequel to these events has already gone down in Chelsea folklore. With no one interested in taking the job known as a 'poisoned chalice', assistant Roberto Di Matteo took over and led the side to their first Champions League before incurring the same vicious circle as Villas-Boas.
