Malaga's financial concerns are well documented and if the La Rosaleda side are unable to overturn the UEFA ruling to ban them from European competition next term then their problems could exacerbate.

The club already saw Salomon Rondon, Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal leave over the past year and clearly £35m would greatly aid the La Liga side's recovery and clearly having set such a release clause the Qatari owned club will have little choice other than to accept such a bid if it is indeed forthcoming.

Isco had a standout first season with Malaga last term, helping the club to secure a maiden Champions League berth but the Spanish Under 21 international has gone from strength to strength this term, becoming an even more effective member of Manuel Pellegrini's squad.

The former Valencia man has racked up ten goals in all competitions and has helped his side to within touching distance of the Champions League Quarter-Finals.

Abramovich is clearly keen to build for the future and with much speculation about the future of his old guard the Blues supremo has been bringing in a number of young talents in recent seasons to help with the transition and may well see Isco as an ideal long term replacement for Frank Lampard, who may or may not be handed a one year contract extension like his England colleague Ashley Cole.

If Chelsea do indeed meet Isco's release clause there would then be the small matter of beating fellow Premier League side Man City to the signing of the starlet.
