Aubameyang has seen his career get back on track at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard club having spent four years struggling to make the grade at AC Milan.
Chelsea may well feel the need to strengthen their attack given Fernando Torres's continued woes. Though Demba Ba has arrived at Stamford Bridge the West London side still do not possess all that many effective options and could indeed look to welcome back Romelu Lukaku into the first team fold after the Belgian's impressive loan spell at West Brom.
A move away from Saint-Etienne is perhaps not inevitable, especially if Aubameyang helps his side to secure a coveted Champions League berth, with his side sitting in fourth spot just two points off the all important top three.
